Whitney Museum Unveils New Designs, Divorces the High Line!
Tooooooooo much Renzo, we don’t need his incantations on every stop on the museum tour. Please Museum Directors and Board Members…how about some original and creative thinking rather than following the masses into a ditch.
New Views of Frank Gehry Tower in SaMo: Lots of Ped Action
Anyone know what the museum is going to be? Used to be people would think up a program or mission for cultural institutions, then find a building. Now, the museum is a just a feature.
Midtown Atlanta sculpture debuts, offering commentary on car-centric lifestyle
I don’t expect Atlantans to appreciate something different in art. The only museum here is the high which bassicaly takes whatever the Brooklyn Museum had on display 2 years ago
Long Beach is Trying to Get the Top Gun Aircraft Carrier
There’s already the USS Midway in San Diego, why would you need another carrier museum that close. Save the money. Not every town in the US needs a carrier museum.
When the museum is constructed and opens elsewhere, the Fiends of the Park should be sued for the revenue the museum takes in each year into perpetuity.
New Museum unveils new, Rem Koolhaas-designed addition
So, after 10 years or whatever, the Look At Me Museum has progressed from kindergarten building blocks to computer-designed and X-Acto knifed… nonsense.
Landing The Lucas Museum Represents A Giant Leap Towards Chicago's 2020 Tourism Goals
@lakewatch: I don’t favor "buildings right up to if not in Lake Michigan" and I like green space. I would really like to see the lakefront parks expanded to the north and the south. I would also like to see additional green space by Streeterville and Oak Street including the proposed island by North Avenue. I would like to see an expansion of parks throughout the City.
BUT these types of improvements don’t pay for themselves. The City needs to bring money into the local economy. The Lucas Museum will definitely be a tourist draw and contribute to our economy.
Additionally, the proposed project is not getting rid of green space. It is getting rid of parking lots and increasing green space.
One last point is the parking lots in question were located West of Lake Shore Drive until the 1990s when part of LSD was relocated to the West to create the Museum Campus.
