Miracle Mile's A+D Museum is Moving to the Arts District
Has anyone been to this museum? Since everyone here is interested in real estate, is this museum worth the trip? I heard from a few acquaintances that the museum was "cool" but they weren’t real estate people so I don’t put much stock into their opinions about something like this.
Will Judge's Ruling Send Lucas Museum to a Site Far, Far Away?
I pray to Yoda that we don’t lose this museum, especially to a bunch of close minded NIMBYs. This museum is being gifted to us. This museum will inspired many and will showcase the importance of creative thinking, something Friends of the Park lack…
Emanuel Administration Strikes Back in Lucas Museum Saga
I can’t believe people take this group seriously.
Pros to the museum: Hundreds of temporary and permanent jobs, millions of dollars paid to the city in taxes, a new museum, a postmodern addition to the city’s skyline, a new museum.
Cons: A parking lot lives on.
A context-free rundown of what America is saying about Atlanta right now
The Civil Rights museum, the aquarium, the college football HOF, and the Children’s Museum (plus the Coke museum, for what it’s worth), are all in walking distance from each other around a massive, well kept park. They’re all right next to two major entertainment venues. So I don’t really know what you mean by no major attractions
Academy's Movie Museum Ditching Big Hollywood Site, Planning Move Into LACMA's Old May Co. Building
Great! The May Co. building seems a much better fit for a museum about Hollywood than for an art museum. That big golden turret-like feature already looks like a stack of film cans. (Or gold records – the Grammy museum could have gone here too.)
"a museum would be ideal" – seriously? When would a museum ever be ideal to "liven up" an area. A museum, imho, is only ideal when the surrounding area is already a little TOO full of life and you want something to slow things down a bit.
Whitney Ups Admission To $22 To Cover $422M New Building
I am withholding judgment until I see it in person. But the Whitney never should have left the Breuer building. All these planned mega-museum expansions rarely succeed. The measure of the success of a museum is not its foot traffic. Not every museum has to be Bilbao.
The Lakefront Strikes Back: See the Latest Renderings for the Lucas Museum
Its not a star wars museum. Its a museum dedicated to any art that carries a narrative.
Nobody is going to lake back on the 20th century and talk about its amazing art and sculptures. The only unique art we have to show for the century is that which will be housed in this museum.
