Is This Parking Lot The Future Home Of The Lucas Museum?
I think it is great that George Lucas is considering Chicago. It will be a fantastic asset to the City. The location makes a lot of sense due to proximity to museum campus and the fact that it will cover up parking lots.
Scooters Banned on Boardwalk, LA Spurned By George Lucas
It seems like George Lucas’ decision to build a Cultural Museum in Chicago and not San Francisco as he intended, is more of a retaliative act against the City of San Francisco, for not approving his three design proposals.
I hope the final design they plop down at the top of the new lawn improves over the stupid white boxes they proposed. There should be some attempt to put the museum into context with its setting. Otherwise, it will always look like an outsider at the party. Even Lucas made an attempt to play nice with his campus.
Huge Grand Avenue Project designed by Frank Gehry could be delayed yet again
Give the site across from Disney Hall to George Lucas for his new museum. Let Related keep the site bound by First, Hill, Second and Olive and let them build their cheaper Gensler scheme there. Grand Avenue adds onto its arts focus, Related finally get off the pot. Win, win for everybody
Plans filed for futuristic George Lucas museum in LA
I can imagine that Lucas is also thinking that should LA get the Olympics in 2024 his museum will be pictured in every aerial of the stadium. Plus, who knows when Treasure Island will actually be ready for a mass influx of visitors. Here’s hoping it comes to LA.
Everybody freaked out about the Lucas arts development too. I think its great. Plenty of room down there for a museum AND a little historical center, which is perfectly appropriate. And guess what ? The Presidio DOES need funding, so, its 100000% better than other commercial alternatives.
Architect Asks Lucas to Reconsider Museum for Chicago, Suggests U.S. Steel Site
Don’t forget President Obama’s library is also coming to the south side. Wouldn’t that also generate more traffic for the area? I think with Museum of Science and Industry, Presidential Library, UofC, improved infrastructure/public trans, would be a nice place to start. However, Mr. Lucas would be crazy to give Chicago another shot after such a long battle
