Sounds very reminiscent of the mentality of the Merion, PA neighbors near the original Barnes Foundation. Suburbanites fight museum visits, museum goes bankrupt, relocates to city, neighbors now suddenly want the museum to stay in their area.

The museum does more good than that particular park space and it used to be museum property. Even now people refer to it as Museum Park or Dinosaur Park. The precent is there for this expansion..

For Lakefront parks there are Notebaert Nature Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art, and Chicago History Museum. For other parks, there is the DuSable, Mexican American Art and I presume others.
