Curbed Cup Elite Eight: East Village (11) vs. Uptown (3)
The Somereset redevelopment has been a huge success. Along with all the rehabs of former slum buildings into new attractive housing units. Uptown is also near the Lake, which is fantastic. There are still way too many affordable housing projects that are holdovers from the Schiller days when Uptown was the worst northside lakefront neighborhood. The trend is clear though, Uptown is definitely turning around and on the up.
Proposed Uptown TOD would feature 33 units and zero parking
Disagree. Its well proportioned. It meets the street. Sensitive to its neighbors. No curb cuts. The styling is classic Chicago without being cartoonish. For an infill development in Uptown, Ill take this all day.
Guess the Ask on a Four-Bed Vintage Condo w/ Four Fireplaces
@guest #4: It’s sad that a collection of hood rat thugs keep giving Uptown a bad name. I’ve lived in 6 different neighborhoods in my time here in Chicago and Uptown by far is one of the most interesting (the Southport corridor is also amazing). I like the location, history, cultural diversity and affordability of Uptown. I know this is about this property so I’ll say around $400K.that
