Curbed Cup Finals: Uptown (5) v. West Lakeview (6)
Okay folks, now you’re all just using this fun little opinion poll as a platform for your douchery. Uptown Update doesn’t represent a minority of citizens living in Uptown, it represents a great deal of people living in the neighborhood. It’s not the puppet-site of some local politician, Uptown Update is a strict non-biased blog, which does indeed compile collective efforts of uptown citizens to report the news, and sometimes even puts pressure on the mishaps of local government. So how about we all just cool ourselves off, throw some cold water on our backs and let this opinion poll run its course.
Guest 7, 9, and 11 (same dude) is obviously a suburban transplant (maybe iowa or wisconsin) who bought in Uptown during the housing bubble. He most likely thought Uptown would morph overnight into Lincoln Park, make a quick buck and move his family back to the burbs. He made a poor financial decision and he’s lashing out at the poor people and minorities he blames for his crappy lot in life.
Lets face it, crime in Uptown is significantly below city average and comparable to Lake View and Lincoln Square. The difference is, Uptown has poor black people and suburban whites hate poor black people. Sometimes the truth hurts.

@guest #18: What garbage are you speaking? Big chunks of Uptown are actually nice. Some areas are run down, and are in the process of being renewed. Uptown has only legitimately been on the rise for about 7-8 years now, and the TIF was imposed only a few years ago. In a decade from now, Uptown will be nice.

Buena Park is a distinct area which is part of Uptown but far more upscale and nicer than the rest of Uptown. Yes the overall neighborhood is Uptown, but youre arguement to disclassify it Buena Park is about as stupid as yelling at someone who lives in Wrigleyville by saying. NOPEITSLAKEVIEW! You are a DIPSHIT
