Guest #5 sounds bitter and misinformed.
The Loop, both this year and the past ten years, is better in every single aspect than Uptown. Every. Single. Aspect. Everyone knows this besides Uptown residents, or people who seem to think that getting rid of an old terrible Alderman overshadows the embarrassing problems of crime and urban decay which exemplify Uptown.
You don’t like Alderman Cappleman, so it makes sense that you don’t like the Uptown Underground either. They did host his victory party, after all. I’ll take it that you voted for his opponent?
Curbed Cup 1st Round: (1) River North vs. (8) Uptown
Granted River North has a lot of great restaurants and bars and Uptown may have it’s issues but there are a lot of people that live in Uptown that try to improve it and get involved. We know our neighbors, we have block clubs, we have meetings to try to improve things. I don’t think there are as many people that get involved in River North, hence the higher voting for Uptown. And people may think that Uptown is an armpit, but maybe people should venture out of their bubble wrapped world of LP and RN. Uptown has great bars and restaurants too.

Uptown has an over abundance of affordable housing. Glad to see it dropped from 20% to 4 or 5%. Positive things are starting to happen in Uptown….about time!
@guest#9…actually Uptown as very few people paying as much as these "affordable" units cost. Even the affordable units would be wealthy people by Uptown standards, lol.
