Plan to bring 700 apartments to single Uptown block moves forward
Amazing. I bike down Broadway daily and shake my head at how little density there is. There are taller buildings on the back streets of Uptown and Edgewater than on Broadway. It blows my mind. Glad to see this parking lots and that ugly office building repurposed.
Now if we could only get rid of some of these one story strips malls that plague Broadway…
Just last week someone was shot a few blocks away. Is this the most dangerous area of chicago? Of course not. Is it totally fine or "just part of being in the city"? Absolutely not. I looked at south loop, river north, streeterville, old town, gold coast, lincoln park, river west, roscoe village, lakeview uptown and counted 0 shootings in the past few weeks, despite being waaaaaaay denser population-wise.
You’re clearly financially invested in this area doing well, but it’s important to be realistic with where this area is at.
City makes small step towards Lawrence station renovation
….I actually use the Wilson Ave. station, and YES it’s rebuilding was a Nightmare for CTA rail travel, as well as being a "Nightmare" of street congestion for the Uptown Wilson Avenue area. ….BUT was a "Nightmare_Of_Progress"!! ….So, I say "Let_This_Next_Nightmare_Of_Progress_Begin!!!"
….(-;Chuckle;-) Just messing with ya’ a little bit, as I DO_Understand what you’re saying, and you DO have a valid point. ….Maybe!! (-;Wink;Wink;-)
Four Uptown developments expected to break ground in 2018
Curious why all of these are rental. It seems like the condo market in Uptown is pretty robust these days, wouldn’t it make sense to build a TOD in the area with units for sale?
