California’s transit-housing bill pushing for taller, denser growth clears first hurdle
Was this a hurdle, or a baby step? If the wiener dude can’t push his own bill out of committee, nothing can. All real debate postponed. Missing maps for the ethereal jobs rich areas, whose determination cannot be left up to closed door meetings at a later date. Work in progress. Amendments to be introduced later. The approval was for the concept, not truly any viable piece of legislation.
1940s Midtown auto shop razed for modern, high-end apartments
On a different note….. The rendering makes this look like a very large property, but that lot is ~
170′ × 170′ according to Google Maps. I don’t see how this development can possibly fit on that lot – unless they’re buying an adjacent one with it.
In Midtown, Norfolk Southern’s $575M HQ is officially under construction
I mean, they keep the lights on by writing articles and driving page views. This update has 32 comments at this point, so as long as it gets a response they’ll write about it.
Though if they’re looking for topics, I’d like to see an update on the site work and progress on the various projects on the Howell Mill corridor. There’s a number of projects being built out and it would be a good topic for a photo essay. Or one of those then and now google maps pieces.
Renderings: Planned Castleberry Hill townhomes would ask mid to high $400Ks for ‘chic intown living’
The food hall development (at least that is what I think it is still planned to be) at the single story flat iron building at 136 Walker Street in Castleberry Hill is moving along quite well. Would love for Curbed to get an update on this as to updated final renderings, use of the space, and any confirmed tenants.

Agreed. The Brock projects and Quarry Yards are the current high water mark for far Westside development. I want to see Brock be successful because it will add to the momentum on the Westside as a whole. There are huge swaths of nearly vacant land between the Marietta Corridor and Donald Lee Hollowell Pkwy that are Beltline adjacent and that won’t displace folks if developed. Huge opportunity for any developers that focus on the westside like Brock.
