Detroit’s demolition program once again under scrutiny
I accompany some news from Detroit and see the effort, the affection that Grandmont Rosedale has for several neighborhoods in order to improve them every day. I see from Google Maps that there are many identical houses with the same constructive profile, would not it be interesting instead of demolishing the houses without taking anything away, generating only trash and rubbish, dismantling them and reusing the material to reform another one? I believe that you can manage all this material more properly, even resell for a symbolic value to the residents who need it.
Poll: Should Atlanta charge out-of-towners to drive through Buckhead, Midtown?
1. there are no states where people are immune from paying for their driving… as far as I know, every state has registration fees and gas tax…
2. you are choosing to focus on one direction of Atlanta commuters… you should pull up google maps today around 4 or 5 and check out where the congestion is… look at I20 West or I75/85 South, or I20 East or I85 North maybe?… those areas are largely not "wealthy"… so we should definitely tax those people just cause "someone in Alpharetta can afford it"! It makes good sense! /s
LA expands DASH bus system with new routes, weekend service
DASH buses are extremely unreliable.
Even when Google Maps shows that a bus is coming soon, it doesn’t mean that it will come.
It may not also stop because the driver is accustomed to nobody riding it.
Shouldn’t all buses belong to Metro, then transfers would be easy and free? Big Blue Bus, DASH, Culver, etc…
LA expands DASH bus system with new routes, weekend service
I’m glad they’re expanding service but until Dash buses are added to Google maps I’ll never use them, because I have no idea where to take them, where they go, or when they arrive.
LA will create permanent memorials for bicyclists killed in crashes
How is LA behind the times by not installing infrastructure dedicated to bicycles which are an outdated mode of transportation?
New flash, in case you didn’t alright know, have a look at google maps to see how much dedicated bike lanes exists. There are hundreds, if not thousands of miles across SoCal for bikers yet no one seems to notice because the lanes are rarely used.
So now we need protected bike lanes. It will never end. It will never be enough. Just admit it. This wild goose chase of integrating cars and bikes and pedestrians needs to end. It will NOT work! Nothing, including these ridiculous memorials nor the whining every time a cyclists is killed to force people out of their cars and create horrid traffic will help.
It sucks when a cyclists is killed as with any human being. It sucks that there isn’t dedicated bicycle infrastructure where it makes sense and is truly needed. It sucks our roads and freeways aren’t as wide as they should be and our freeway network is so half arsed.
You want to save lives? Get a grip on reality. Get cyclists off the road. Make a law to ride on sidewalks where no bike lanes exists. Get traffic moving smoother which in turns reduces anxiety and road rage in care users. Understand that these horrible pedestrian bridges, freeways, and Vegas style crosswalk overpasses all have two things in common: they cost more and they truly save lives. They save lives because grade separation is king when it comes to pedestrian and bike safety. You went cars off the roads? Get them on freeways by building more of them and keeping them as wide as necessary to ensure proper LOS.
Atlanta’s rapidly changing Howell Mill Road corridor, in 15 photos
There is! This is a pretty comprehensive map (just missing a couple smaller things) of current and planned developments around Atlanta, as well as prime development parcels. You can see that everything on DLH pretty much from Northside to Quarry Yards is either planned for development or else a possible site for it. Credit for the map goes to jjordan1023 on the skyscraperpage forum.
