The Chicago Plan Commission voted on a wide range of developments at yesterday’s monthly meeting, including a South Loop skyscraper and a new rail car manufacturing facility.
The monthly meeting will review new developments in River North, South Loop, South Shore, and Uptown. A courtesy presentation regarding the redevelopment of the Julia C. Lathrop homes will also take place.
Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood could be on track for yet another residential development as a parcel just north of Chase Park has been revealed as a possible townhouse development. The yet-to-be-approved plan calls for 24 new residences.
A short stroll from the Wilson CTA Line station, the transit-oriented development (TOD) would feature 33 dwelling units, ground floor retail, a rooftop deck, and no automobile parking.
The well-known design firm has paired up with Chicago developer Cedar Streets Companies on several projects that have embraced the growing trend of smaller units and intra-building communal interaction.
