Curbed Cup 1st round: (7) Uptown vs. (10) Lakeview
Lakeview is full of pretentious entitled white people who want "the city life" while having all the ease of the suburbs. Why go to Old Orchard Mall, when I can just walk down Southport and shop at Athleta, Lululemon, or other big box upscale over-priced chains. Then I can get in my BWM/Audi/Acura and drive 1 block to Starbucks to purchase my overpriced Pumpkin Spiced Latte, god I hope they valet.

Lol don’t worry about it. Yes LP is beautiful. The so called Curbed Cup is really just an opportunity for a lot of insecure-about-their-hoods people, mostly in Uptown, who need validation. Don’t fret!

This is such a no brainer
My wife and I moved from Lakeview to the edge of Uptown/Edgewater a year ago. What an enormous mistake that was. We lived in a beautiful safe neighborhood that we loved and now our neighborhood is not as visually pleasing and we find homeless people passed out on our patio regularly. Maybe Uptown is up and coming, we thought so and see construction projects pointing in that direction, but we will not be sticking around to find out. I can see how some Uptown people think its better than Lakeview since they are probably high as a kite.

Somebody is a little sensitive. Lakeview is great, but if you’ve been here for 15 years and don’t see the progress going on in Uptown then do yourself a favor and don’t ever try to invest in real estate.

Dude, spare me. Yes, Lakeview has a ton of bros. That being said, it also has a ton of awesome bars, restaurants, lakefront, and real estate.
Uptown has the people priced out of desirable areas of the city and a crapload of drug addicts and criminals. I’ve lived in this city for 1 5 years. Spare me.
Uptown is not ‘up and coming’ – it never came. It’s not the next logan square. it’s not even the next ravens wood. Uptown sucks. period.
River North’s historic Bush Temple of Music begins new chapter as apartments
There is so much good that Cedar Street has done. The only gripes I have are the several buildings in Uptown and Edgewater where they painted the brick gray. At least that could be stripped some day. I was thankful to get a private tour of Lawrence House from a resident friend, and everything from the lobby to the rooftop to the restored pool was breathtaking. Especially the pool.
Keep up the great work and thanks for keeping and restoring what you can of Chicago!!

this vote is going to get brigaded by uptown residents but I think lakeview is an easy choice here for anyone being honest. uptown is where you go once you’re priced out of lakeview.
