You may have noticed, this is a damn fine town for public art: From the 40 years' worth of mural, mosaic, and sculpture put forth by the Chicago Public Art Group to the concentration of famed artists' work in The Loop, by Miro, Picasso, Dubuffet, Calder, and others. The Public Art Group's work is dispersed through the neighborhoods and The Loop's collection forms a taut and easily toured circuit that's already known to many. Curbed decided, with this feature, to focus on art on the CTA, specifically the Brown Line. We've expanded our wintertime map of the art circuit running from Kimball to the Harold Washington Library and visa-versa. The half-dozen additions are either new works or were previously edited out for the sake of concision. At Harold Washington, we selected the most prominent of works since there are many dozens to choose from (snag a brochure when you arrive). Sure, you can elect to hike the well traveled Loop public art circuit. But we wanted to curate a slightly off-kilter tour for the more adventurous type. Note: some of the CTA art requires you to exit the station, and so may not make financial sense to those without an unlimited fare card. Without further adieu, our expanded public art map:
