Ukrainian Village is known for its historic district which is filled with workers cottages, rough-cut greystones, and Chicago brick apartment buildings. However, this contemporary condo building on the corner of Augusta and Damen strays from the pack by riffing on the neighborhood’s historic color palette.

From the outside, the newer building doesn’t rely on glass and steel like many projects in the nearby Fulton Market neighborhood. The low-rise, five-unit condo has a geometric brick and concrete exterior with large square windows that lets lots of natural light in each of the units.

Looking at the two-bedroom, two-bathroom penthouse condo that’s for sale, the interior has clean lines and tons of bright light. There’s an 1,300-square-foot open layout with a modern white kitchen, Italian bathroom cabinetry, natural stone surfaces, and wide maple floors. As for outdoor space: There’s a main floor balcony just off the kitchen and a huge private rooftop deck with a pergola.

1000 N. Damen Avenue Unit 5 is listed for $699,250 with Gary Lucido of Lucid Realty Inc.

A living room with large floor-to-ceiling windows. There is a green velvet couch and a dining room table with six chairs.
The kitchen features all white cabinets, a white island with three stools, and a bare bulb light fixture.
The master bedroom has a huge window, a large blue bed with a grey bedspread, and a night stand.
The bathroom has a floating vanity, a walk-in glass shower, and a soaking tub.
The rooftop deck has a pergola and sweeping views of the city.
