Cedar Street Companies is planning a four-story transit-oriented development (TOD) for an Uptown parking lot at 4750 N. Winthrop Avenue, located steps from the Lawrence Red Line station and the Aragon Ballroom concert venue. The busy Chicago developer purchased the lot—along with the adjacent four-story building at 1101 W. Lawrence Avenue—back in 2015, according to Uptown Update.

The 84-unit project will offer a mix of studio and one-bedroom units and parking for 37 vehicles and 50 bikes. The design from Level Architecture Incorporated is similar in scale to the stone and terracotta neighbor but clearly more contemporary. Cedar Street and Level partnered on the 38-unit Montrose Green project currently under construction in Ravenswood.

The Uptown proposal will need a zoning change (RT-4 to B2-5) to move forward. 46th Ward Alderman James Cappleman will host a meeting with the Truman Square Neighbors to discuss the plan on Thursday, May 23 at 6:00 p.m. in the nearby Bridgeview Bank building—also acquired recently by Cedar Street, according to The Real Deal.

Additional information on the 4750 N. Winthrop project is available on the 46th Ward website.
