Labor Day weekend is just around the corner, and after the odd weather (a snowy spring, an oppressive heatwave, and torrential rain) we’ve got to take the pleasant days while we can. For now, the long weekend shows mostly sunny, mid-70s days—no better weather in the city.
Whether you’re planning to spend that time in the dog in the park or want to road trip out of the city, find it all here. Rent a river kayak, head to Ping Tom Memorial Park, explore a new bike trail in a forest preserve, or park yourself at one the lakefront beaches all day.
Every year you can count on a grand finale fireworks show from Navy Pier. There will also be the annual, free Chicago Jazz Festival in Grant Park. Plenty of other events and special shows are listed on Choose Chicago, the city’s tourism site, if you run out of parks, beaches, or trails to explore on Labor Day weekend.
