Welcome to this week’s installment of Curbed Comparisons, where we explore what you can rent for a certain dollar amount in various Chicago ‘hoods. We’re looking at rentals across the city within $100 of today’s price: $2,000.

Edgewater

A two-bedroom one-bathroom apartment with in-unit laundry and located three blocks from the beach for $1,950? Heck yeah. 1050 W. Ardmore Avenue comes with a front and back porch, separate living and dining areas, central air, bike storage and a communal courtyard with a grill.

This three-bedroom apartment in a greystone is the perfect distance from Wrigley Field—close enough where you still feel the excitement but far enough away from the rowdy fans. The recently renovated top floor unit at 2020 W. Waveland comes with hardwood floors, a beautiful built-in hutch, and lots of natural light thanks to the extra wide lot. Rent is $1,950.

Humboldt Park

This two-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment with free wifi and heat goes for $1,995. The building, 1842 N. Humboldt Boulevard, is just a 10 minute walk down a lovely grassy boulevard to Humboldt Park. It comes with king-sized bedrooms, a fireplace with built-in shelving, an enclosed sun porch, a walk-in shower, central air, in-unit laundry, and a bike room with a repair station.

Old Town

This convertible, turned into a one-bedroom with a sliding glass door, is renting for a “winter rate” of $2,048. The apartment at 1457 N. Halsted Street is just 700 square feet but comes with a balcony, in-unit laundry, and high ceilings. Building perks include a door attendant, 24-hour gym, spa, outdoor pool with grills, and a theater room.

River West

A timber loft at 226 N. Clinton is asking for $1,950 per month. The condo unit comes with high ceilings, in-unit laundry, huge windows, and a large front porch. Rent includes basic cable and internet too. There’s a brick-paved courtyard with tables, grills, and lots of greenery plus a gym, secure parking, and front desk staff.
