The glass-walled home offers sweeping views in all directions

A rarely available full-floor penthouse unit in River North’s ultra-modern Contemporaine condo tower hit the market this week. Built in 2004, the glass and concrete high-rise is known for its sleek finishes, private balconies, and skyline vistas through its floor to ceiling windows.

This particular residence takes the downtown building’s best attributes and simply offers more of everything. It is big on floorspace and custom high-end fixtures and provides generous headroom and sweeping views from its 27-foot-tall corner atrium. The glass-walled combination living, dining, and kitchen area was made even larger when the current owners opened up the third bedroom and converted it to a study.

The modern home’s long and sun-lit entry gallery runs parallel to a landscaped terrace with peaceful zen garden vibes. Though some rooms feature the minimalist, raw concrete ceilings that are common throughout the building, other spaces have a much more polished appearance thanks to finished ceilings and dropdown soffits.

The property is currently listed at figure just shy of $2 million—plus $1,973 in monthly assessments. The asking price is considerably lower than the Contemporaine’s second penthouse unit which last sold for $2.4 million in 2013. It features two even larger outdoor terraces complete with mature trees and a pond crossed by a stepping stone path.
