An upcoming 18-story condo development next to Chicago’s Trump Tower is showing signs of life as crews prepare the site at 403 N. Wabash Avenue for construction. Known as ‘Renelle on the River,’ the project from local developer Belgravia Group scored its first demolition permit a little over one year ago. With that original permit reinstated, workers recently took jackhammers to the narrow elevated plaza where the bKL-designed condo will eventually rise.

Belgravia began marketing Renelle’s collection of 50 three- and four-bedroom residences from a sales center at neighboring 405 N. Wabash in late 2016. Condo prices start around $1.3 million and can well exceed $3 million for roomier penthouse units. The boutique development includes amenities such as an indoor/outdoor rooftop lounge, fitness center, and private dog run.

The upcoming condo building will rise atop an existing parking garage.
