Despite being described as “the ultimate powerhouse lakefront home” by its listing agent, this giant estate overlooking Lake Michigan in suburban Wilmette, Illinois has struggled to find a buyer after two years on the market. Built in 1941, the sprawling stone home features five bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a home theater, elevator, a sweeping yard, and a private boat launch.

Large waterfront lots with private lake access are a rarity in Wilmette. In fact, there are less than 25 such properties in the North Shore suburb, according to the home listing notes. The estate entered the market in 2015 wanting $10.9 million. It returned this week and can now be picked up for a “mere” $8.5 million.
