Historic Craftsman mansion in Buena Park returns with new price

The handsome five-bedroom home has knocked $400k off its asking price since last year

Baird & Warner/VHT Studios

Built during the height of the Midwest's love affair with the Craftsman movement, this 1905 mansion in Chicago’s Buena Park neighborhood is back on the market with a new, lower price. The attractive tan brick structure sports a Spanish tile roof with ornate copper gutters and downspouts. Additional Craftsman and Prairie School touches include a walnut staircase, stained glass windows, fireplaces, and rich millwork throughout.

The kitchen has been renovated but in manner that doesn’t clash too badly with the home’s otherwise historic character. Though sparsely staged in many of its listing photos, the home’s roomy third floor ballroom is shown with a billiards table. The property was previously listed for $2.2 million one year ago. It returned yesterday seeking just under $1.8 million.
