After a year and a half of construction, the new Optima Signature tower in the Streeterville neighborhood is gearing up for its grand opening. The 57-story, 490-unit apartment high-rise starting inking leases with prospective residents at the beginning of March, but a press release from the developers behind the project say that the tower’s first tenants are “expected to move in during the second quarter of 2017.”
The project, which pairs with the Optima Chicago Center next door, comes from architect and developer David Hovey and partner DeBartolo Development. As it enters the rental market in a period where competition among developers has reached a fever pitch, the marketing team behind Optima Signature boasts that the new 587-foot tower will feature amenities “that set new standards for Chicago.” Similar to competing buildings, Optima Signature will feature common amenities such as a gym, yoga studio, outdoor grills, and theater rooms, but it takes fitness offerings further with both indoor and outdoor pools, a full-sized basketball court, bocce and squash courts, and a golf simulator.
The building’s amenities will occupy two full floors, which Crain’s measures out to be roughly two acres of indoor and outdoor space. But beyond recreational amenities, the building will also feature 65,000 square feet of office and retail space. A post on its Facebook page suggests that Optima Signature will also boast co-working areas, conference rooms, and high-speed data ports for business users.
It’s been a long time coming for the new 57-story tower. Foundation permits were first issued back in June 2015 and construction continued through 2016. However, the apartment tower is finally wrapped up and ready to start welcoming its very first tenants.
