The city has issued a permit that will allow developer ZWL Properties to begin transforming the former senior housing development at 7270 S. South Shore Drive into a new apartment complex. Previously known as the Lakeview Living Center, the shuttered 72-unit single room occupancy facility was shuttered in March 2015 and then later acquired by ZWL in December 2015 and will be converted into a 50-unit apartment complex. Plans for an apartment conversion go back at least a year as contractors had indicated the intention to renovate the masonry building early last year.
