With a planned height that will surpass the 800’ mark, the new luxury condo and rental apartment tower coming to 451 E. Grand Avenue in Streeterville will become one of Chicago’s tallest towers when completed by summer 2019. Also known as One Bennett Park, the development team, which is headed by Chicago-based Related Midwest, broke ground on the ambitious project in February 2016 while major construction activity ramped up last summer with the drilling for foundation caissons. And after nearly a full year of construction, the project is starting to take shape and we’re seeing the early stages of what will become a tall 70-story skyscraper.

One Bennett Park construction crews have just recently passed the 100’ milestone, and this week we’ll see the crew pour the ninth floor. According to the tower’s developers, the construction of the tower is running on schedule. Designed by New York’s Robert A.M. Stern Architects, One Bennett Park will feature 69 upscale condos and 279 apartments when it is completed. A new park (simply dubbed Bennett Park) designed by the esteemed Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates will accompany the new tower at the ground level.

Chicago’s GREC Architects are overseeing the construction of the project, which is expected to become Chicago’s tallest all-residential building when completed. For sale units won’t come cheap though—expect to pay anywhere from $1.85 million to $15 million for one of the exclusive residences.

Here’s a short time lapse of the construction site that shows progress between February 2016 and January 2017.
