Another modern gem from noted architect brothers William and George Fred Keck is up for grabs in suburban Flossmoor, Illinois. Built in 1958, the nearly 4,000-square-foot midcentury structure features four bedrooms, four full bathrooms, three fireplaces, and plenty of old-school tongue and groove wood paneling.
The home also sports floor-to-ceiling Thermopane windows. A trademark of Keck and Keck designs, the glass provides sweeping views of the property’s wooded 2.3-acre lot as well as contributes to passive solar heating. The roomy and architecturally significant house listed yesterday for just shy of $475,000.
The home isn’t the first Keck-designed property in Flossmoor to become available in recent years. A beautifully-restored 1942 solar house hit the market in May for $350,000 and sold in just six weeks for $30,000 over list. In 2012, an attractive Keck ranch built in 1952 listed for $425,000 before selling for $397,000 the following year.
