Renovated full-floor East Lake Shore Drive condo lists for $8.95M

The 8,000-square-foot Gold Coast home is tied for Chicago’s 11th priciest residential listing

After reportedly going under contract in 2013 for $7 million, a full-floor condo in Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood is back on the market with an extensive interior overhaul and even higher asking price. Spanning 8,000 square feet, the four-bedroom, five-and-a-half-bath unit occupies the 17th floor of the 1924 Mayfair building at 189 E. Lake Shore Drive.

Exposures to the north, east, and south provide expansive views of Lake Michigan, Oak Street Beach, and the city skyline while the home’s well-appointed master bedroom suite includes his and hers dressing rooms, a sitting area, private terrace, and a den converted into a workout room. Compared to the listing photos from four years prior, the renovation appears to have touched just about every room.

The Gold Coast home hit the market yesterday seeking $8,950,000. The ask ties with a 10th floor co-op in Lincoln Park’s 2450 N. Lakeview building for the honor of Chicago’s 11th priciest residential listing (excluding yet-to-be-built properties). The HOA fees are unsurprisingly rich, running an additional $7,142 per month.
