An old Loop office tower is ready for its change in programming to rental units. A permit issued last week will allow the 29 S. LaSalle’s new owner, the Florida-based Dolce Living Communities Residential, to perform the full conversion into apartments and ground-level retail. The building, designed by the firm Jenney & Mundie and completed in 1902, will receive a new interior designed by FitzGerald Associates Architects.
Initially proposed to contain 216 total units, the permit suggests that the unit count has changed slightly to 207 total apartments. According to a previous report from Crain’s, the remodeled building will feature a number of new amenities such as a rooftop pool deck, lounge space, and a dog run. No foundation work or alterations to the elevator pit will be performed, helping this project get off to a quick start.
