A proposal to replace a surface parking lot at 5440 N. Sheridan Road with an age-restricted rental high-rise development has been revised and downsized following community input received by the office of 48th Ward Alderman Harry Osterman. Known as Overture Edgewater Beach, the proposed development is now expected to rise 16 stories and contain 174 senior dwellings, as reported by Edgeville Buzz. The plan was previously presented as an 18-story tower with 186 units.
The Overture project would occupy the site of the Bluewater condo project that failed to survive the recession. It comes from developer/operator Greystar and architect Pappageorge Haymes. In additional to its two-story haircut, the plan has seen a slight design tweak to its upper facade and a substantial revision to its previously windowless 190-vehicle parking podium.
DNAinfo reports that Alderman Harry Osterman (48th) plans to host a follow-up meeting regarding the Overture proposal on January 19th at 6:30 at St. Andrew's Greek Church located at 5649 N. Sheridan Road.
