Admirers of Frank Lloyd Wright and his brand of Prairie School design may want to consider blocking off the third weekend in May. On Saturday, May 20, the Wright Plus Housewalk from the Frank Lloyd Wright Trust will return yet again, but this time it’s an important one. The housewalk, dubbed Wright Plus 150 for this year, will be a special edition to commemorate the 150th birthday of the legendary American architect. Ten private residences in Oak Park will be featured on the housewalk this year, but tickets will also get visitors into the Frederick C. Robie House in Hyde Park, The Rookery Building in the Loop’s Financial District, and Frank Lloyd Wright’s own home and studio in Oak Park.
For this special year, the Frank Lloyd Wright Trust will be offering a couple of different vacation packages. The primo one, dubbed the Ultimate Plus Weekend Package, offers visitors a number of extras including a fast pass to skip the lines at the Wright Plus Housewalk, access to a private luncheon at the Nineteenth Century Club in Oak Park, an invitation to the special Wright Night event at The Rookery, hotel accommodations at The Carleton of Oak Park, and all transportation needs to and from the various events. The full weekend of Frank Lloyd Wright-themed activities will set non-members back $2,650 while Frank Lloyd Wright Trust members get a $150 discount.
