The busy Milwaukee Avenue Corridor between Wicker Park and Logan Square is about to get another big rental development. Now dubbed The Western, the apartment and retail project for 1920 N. Milwaukee Avenue received its foundation permit on the 15th and is now under construction, according to the new website for the development. Previous plans stacked the building at six stories, but the language on the permit indicates that the project will stand at seven stories.
The project has been through at least a few different design iterations, with the first and second being a sort of blocky greyscale look that Brininstool + Lynch also employed on the nearby L Logan Square apartment development. The project’s official website shows yet another updated rendering which reveals a similarly shaped building, but with what appears to be a wood siding (or some sort type of artificial wood siding).
The project comes from the Chicago-based developer Vequity and will deliver 44 new apartments to the booming Milwaukee Avenue Corridor when completed next summer.
