We look at a handful of apartments in Ravenswood, Edgewater, Lincoln Square, Lakeview, and Rogers Park

Welcome to Curbed Comparisons: Micro Week Edition as we explore tiny spaces available to rent for a set dollar amount in various Chicago neighborhoods. Today we're looking at small apartments on Chicago’s north side currently renting for less than $900/month.

↑ $820 - 4606 N Hermitage Ave #108

Located in a handsome older building, this tiny Ravenswood apartment has plenty of charm. While we’re not exactly sure how the lower cabinets mange to clear the fridge, the studio otherwise makes good use of its 400 square feet of available space. The $820 monthly rent includes heat, water, gas, and electricity.

↑ $684 - 1203 W. Balmoral Ave #2B

Asking less than $700 per month, this studio in Chicago’s Edgewater neighborhood is the bargain option of the bunch. Featuring a large window as well as a skylight over both the kitchen and bathroom area, this cozy apartment certainly has no shortage of natural light.

↑ $895 - 2351 W. Wilson Ave #210

Compared to the others, this Lincoln Square two room studio is on the relatively larger side of the spectrum thanks to a separate dining area that can also be utilized a bedroom. Convenient to the Brown Line, the apartment features hardwood floors and unique old-school recessed bookshelves.

↑ $840 - 640 W. Briar Pl #203

For $840 this Lakeview studio includes utilities and offers in-building laundry facilities. As currently staged, the tiny space features a bright and efficient work station. Though not necessarily conducive to good luck, the broken mirror pictured in the rental photo could also perhaps serve as a modern Objet d’art.

↑ $775 - 6530 N. Lakewood Ave

Located in Rogers Park and just a stone’s throw from Loyola University, this unit in an old courtyard building features handsome hardwood floors throughout and a quaint hearth in the living room. Seeking $775 a month, the two-room apartment sports a dedicated dining area directly off its small but efficient kitchen.
