Today the City of Chicago Plan Commission convened to vote on a handful of development projects proposed for the Windy City. While a 12-story condo tower slated for 61 W. Erie was apparently deferred to next month’s meeting, several projects were approved by the city panel.

↑ Fulton Market’s long-planned Nobu Hotel and Restuarant finally has the Plan Commission’s support to move forward with an updated 11-story design. The revised plan comes from Modif Architecture and was revealed earlier this summer at the project’s ceremonial groundbreaking. Previously approved by the city to rise only eight stories, the project will contribute $875,000 towards Chicago Neighborhood Opportunity Bonus system for the increase in height.

↑ Deferred from last month’s agenda, the commission authorized the conversion of Uptown’s Graeme Stewart Elementary School to residential use. The project comes from developer Morningside Stewart LLC and local architecture firm Pappageorge Haymes Partners. The former school is expected to contain 64 new dwelling units.
2102 N. Natchez Ave.
↑ The commission OK’d a new townhouse development slated for vacant land at 2102-2120 N. Natchez in the Galewood neighborhood. Developed by Mia Property Acquisitions, LLC and designed by Axios Architects, the plan calls for 84 residential dwelling units spread across 14 three-story structures. Additionally, 115 accessory parking spaces will be provided under the plan.

↑ Plans to construct a four-story commercial structure at 46 E. Oak Street in the Gold Coast required Plan Commission approval due to the site's location in the Private Use Zone of Chicago’s Lake Michigan and Chicago Lakefront Protection District. The older structure currently occupying the site will be demolished. No rendering of the proposal was provided by the Department of Planning and Development.
