Shoe-horned into a 60-foot-wide site at 226-228 E. Ontario Street, the recently topped-out 21-story Marriott Autograph Hotel will reportedly be ready for guests come March of 2017. Now dubbed the Hotel EMC2 — presumably a nod to Einstein’s famous equation establishing the theory of special relativity — the KOO Associates-designed project will feature 195 guest rooms and a lobby restaurant/bar rather appropriately called "The Albert," reports Choose Chicago.
Roughly $20 million of the Streeterville project’s price tag came from abroad under the EB-5 program which awards foreign nationals American citizenships in exchange for investing in the US economy. According to Crain’s, 40 individuals from China, Canada, India, and Dubai are taking advantage of the federal program to immigrate to the states.
