The building that was long home to The Alley, an alternative retail store, is about ready for its meeting with an excavator. The demolition permit for the property was issued on Monday, allowing the property owner to clear the path for a plan to build new apartments at the site. Designed by Jonathan Splitt Architects, the new seven-story building will eventually deliver 23 residences, six parking spaces, and 2,500-square-feet of retail to the area when completed. Previous drawings show that the new development will save The Alley’s famous terracotta facade. Stay tuned as another transit-oriented development lands in the heart of Lakeview.
