If you still haven’t heard about the Pokémon Go craze sweeping over the country, well, it’s time to go outside. If you’ve spotted a group of people walking slowly around your neighborhood with their faces glued to their cell phone screens, odds are they’re searching for the virtual pocket monsters. Released last week, Pokémon Go has shot to the top of the iTunes charts, but more importantly, it’s getting people outside and exploring their cities.
To celebrate the release of the game, a large group of people are planning on meeting up at Millennium Park this weekend to go hunting for Pokémon. So far, 8,000 people have confirmed their attendance on the Facebook event page. For those looking to join, the group will be meeting at Cloud Gate (aka The Bean) at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. Here’s the event description from Facebook:
I'm planning our first Pokemon Go meet up so we all can go hang out, catch some Pokemon, and BE THE VERY BEST LIKE NO ONE EVER WAS! We would like for people to wear anything Pokemon related if you can, just so everyone knows we are true Pokemon masters. You are more than welcome to bring a 3DS, cards, or what have you, BONUS points if you cosplay.
Make sure your phones are charged and if possible bring a power bank for your phone for back up.
