Welcome to Curbed Comparisons, a column that explores what one can rent for a set dollar amount in various Chicago neighborhoods. Is one man's studio another man's townhouse? Let's find out! Today we're looking at apartments around Chicago renting for $800/month.
Alright, it’s time to find a new two-bedroom apartment and you’re looking to keep things around $1,300 per month. No problem, you’ve got a few options. You’ll find plenty of apartments around Edgewater, Uptown, South Shore and around Hyde Park in that price range, but it becomes more sparse as you get into neighborhoods like Wicker Park and Lakeview. Don’t expect to get a bunch of extras and higher-end appliances however.
↑ $850 - 7358 S Yates Blvd #1
Looking for a really great deal on a two-bedroom apartment? Head on down to the South Shore neighborhood then. There’s only one photo included in the listing, but the description suggests that the apartment is quite spacious. It may be worth checking out if you’re on a tight budget.
↑ $1,198 - 1927 N Kedzie Ave #2F
Here’s a two-bedroom spot in Logan Square that’ll get the job done. Alright, so it’s not a proper two-bedroom even though the landlord listed it as one. It’s really a one-bedroom plus den. Looking for a place for your work from home situation? This could be it.
↑ $1,200 - 2246 N Lawndale Ave #2
Have a roommate and a cat? This two-bedroom in Logan Square is pet friendly. At 800-square-feet, it’s not going to be the biggest apartment however. It’s got central air though, which is nice.
↑ $1,300 - 5511 N. Campbell St. #2R
Here’s a nice spot in the Budlong Woods area that fits the budget. The apartment has nice hardwood floors and plenty of windows. The photos in the listing are very low res, but there’s a floor plan included, which is nice.
↑ $1,300 - 2842 N. Whipple Ave. #3
Here’s a simple but fairly spacious two-bedroom in the Avondale/Logan Square area. The room dimensions are listed in the ad and the photos offer a decent look at the place. It’s got radiator heating, so heat is included in the rent.
