Soil Sampling Spotted at Former Harpo Studios Campus

There is some new activity happening at the vacant studio campus

Just a week after Crain's Chicago Business first reported that McDonald's is planning a major move from their suburban office complex to the city, we have some early signs of activity happening on the now shuttered Harpo Studios campus that McDonald's plans to take over. A reader recently spotted a soil sampling rig at the old Harpo campus and tweeted his findings. While soil testing is not a guarantee of future construction, it is certainly something that indicates that there are more things going on behind the scenes. The move is contingent on developer Sterling Bay getting a zoning change for the site, but if the plan does move forward, it would certainly be one of the highest profile corporate relocations in recent years.
