Demolition permits have just been issued for two buildings on the former Children's Memorial Hospital campus in Lincoln Park and demolition is expected to start immediately. Permits were issued for the two-story building that stands over the Lincoln and Fullerton intersection with the address of 2365 N. Lincoln Avenue and the 9-story building at 2323 N Lincoln Avenue, although the facade of the historic building that faces the Lincoln and Fullerton intersection is expected to be saved as a part of the redevelopment. The plan, which has been in the works for years, will eventually see the construction of two high-rises and a sprawling low-rise complex that will deliver 540 rental apartments, 60 for-sale condos, 1,044 parking spaces, 156 rooms for senior house, and 160,000 square feet of retail.
- The plan to purchase and redevelop the six acre campus dates back to 2011. The development team, which includes McCaffery Interests and Hines Interests, could have first occupancies at the redeveloped site delivered by the end of 2018.
