Get a different view of the city's construction boom

There are several dozen high-rise projects under construction in Chicago right now, and many of these towers are being built in the Streeterville and River North neighborhoods. Thousands of new apartment units will be delivered by these buildings once they are completed as the latest building boom continues well into 2016. In these photos taken by high-rise dwellers, we get a more clear look at the construction sites throughout the greater downtown area. Do you live in a downtown high-rise and take photos of the construction going on around you? Send your high resolution images to our tip line or add them to the Curbed Chicago Flickr pool for a chance to be featured on the site.

The following photo offers a view of a few different downtown projects. If you look close enough, you’ll be able to spot the construction of 150 North Riverside, River Point, 167 West Erie (former Gino’s East sie), 640 North Wells (former Ed Debevic's site), 720 North LaSalle (former Howard Johnson Inn site), and 833 North Clark. Just the projects listed represent a few thousand new apartment units and dozens of floors of new office space. Click on the image to get a better view.

And here we get a better look at 833 North Clark, 720 North LaSalle, 640 North Wells, and 167 West Erie.

Moving along, we can get a view of 833 N. Clark, Next, and Niche 905 from this angle.

Another view of Niche 905, and if you look close enough, you can also see Clybourn 1200. Located in the center of the photo is 1611 W. Division, the city’s first transit-oriented development.

And here we get a peek at the construction of No. 9 Walton and the Viceroy Hotel.

But wait, there’s even more! The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago’s Ability Institute is still underway, while Northwestern digs in for its new biomedical research center, and Streeterville’s Moment apartment tower gets wrapped in glass. The bustling Streeterville area has been experiencing a boom in construction, and this trend doesn't appear to be slowing down anytime soon.

The following photos give us a closer look at some of the apartment projects currently underway. For instance, in this photo we can see the topping out of 720 North LaSalle.

Tower cranes fill the sky throughout the downtown area. Here we see a pair of cranes working on new towers at 167 West Erie and 640 North Wells.

From this angle we can see the topping out of 833 North Clark.

The 25-story Hudson being built along Chicago Avenue will deliver 240 new apartments to River North. We can see here that its construction is well underway.

In the foreground of this shot we can see the red tower crane of 167 W. Erie, while the rapidly-rising condo development at 400 W. Huron is pictured center.
