Barrington Hills Home with Indoor Pool and Suspension Bridge Asks $565K

New, 2 comments

The home comes from noted area architect Don Erickson

An interesting Barrington home from a former Frank Lloyd Wright apprentice is up for grabs for a relatively low price. This series of pagoda-like structures situated on five acres of private Barrington Hills property comes from the modernist architect Don Erickson. If this home looks familiar, you're not crazy. There’s a twin in the area that was the architect's personal residence.

While this home is in nowhere near the same condition as its sibling (which was most recently asking nearly $4 million), this one can be had for a fraction of the price at $565,000. It looks like the guts are all there, but this one is going to require a fair amount of work. The kitchen has been updated, but its stainless steel appliances and cherry cabinets almost clash with the rest of the home’s midcentury eastern look. Anyone interested in MCM and looking for an ambitious project may interested in this one. It’ll certainly require a special touch and some patience, but it could be a really neat house with some love.
