A Look Inside Michigan Avenue's Newly Opened MILA Apartments

The 402-unit building features a hot location and amenities galore

Located north of Millennium Park at 200 N. Michigan Avenue, the 41-story MILA design penned by bKL Architecture has come a long way since December. The 402-unit luxury rental development, which features interiors by Philip Koether Architects, is now open for business after pre-leasing began in April. Studio units in the building start near $2,000 with convertibles fetching as much as $2,700 per month — depending on the floor and exposure. Single bedroom apartments lease for between $2,300 to 3,500 a month while corner two-bedrooms units with balconies start around $4,000 and can approach $4,900.

While far from cheap, the new building justifies its high rents not only by its prime downtown location and upper level views of Grant Park, but also with its impressive suite of shared amenities. Totaling 30,000 square feet, MILA’s communal conveniences include outdoor fire pits, multiple sun decks, resident lounges, bike storage, a fitness center, bocce ball court, pet groomer, dog obstacle course, and rooftop swimming pool on the tower’s 41st floor.

MILA also contains a large flagship retail space fronting Michigan Avenue which is still in midst of its initial build-out phase. Once occupied, the new shopping promises to deliver increased vibrancy to the once-desolate stretch of Michigan Avenue south of the Chicago River recently dubbed the "Millennium Mile."
