There will be screenings, tours, and even a recreation of the parade from the movie

One month from now, the classic John Hughes film Ferris Bueller's Day Off will turn three decades old. And to celebrate the big anniversary, many Chicago businesses will be hosting special events and offering Ferris Bueller-themed deals. Much of the frenzy will revolve around Ferris Fest, a weekend long celebration of the film's 30th anniversary. Ferris Fest events will take place throughout the city and North Shore suburbs, with movie screenings, tours of the locations from the film, and even a recreation of the Von Steuben Day Parade that Ferris Bueller crashes in the movie.

Willis Tower - The Willis (aka Sears) Tower is teaming up with Paramount Pictures to offer various Ferris Bueller-themed events throughout the summer. This summer, Willis Tower visitors will be able to recreate the famous scene in the movie when Ferris, Sloan, and Cameron stand on the railing of the Sears Tower's observation deck to get a view of the city below. Starting May 19, Skydeck visitors will be able to stand in the same spot where Ferris stood and have their picture taken alongside representations of sidekicks Sloane and Cameron. In addition, the Willis Tower will have a Ferrari California T, a recent convertible model from the famous Italian automaker, parked out in front of the building's plaza from July 21 through 23. The Willis Tower will also host a Ferris Bueller lookalike contest on Friday, June 24th.

Hubby’s Dog House Sausage - This famous sausage cart will also participate in the Ferris frenzy by renaming itself after Abe Froman, the Sausage King of Chicago, and slinging Froman brats outside of the Willis Tower during lunch hours every other Friday beginning Friday, May 20 and ending on Friday, August 26th.

Palmer House Hilton - The landmark Palmer House will offer a special Ferris Bueller-themed package this summer which seeks to recreate the high school student's famous day off. The package includes two passes to the Art Institute of Chicago, an in-room dessert amenity, a bucket list of Ferris Bueller shenanigans, and a dinner reservation at the Lockwood Restaurant under the name Abe Froman.

Virgin Hotels Chicago - This swanky new downtown hotel will recreate Ferris Bueller's bedroom, which will be on display during the big Ferris Fest weekend of May 20-22.

Lincoln Hotel - Lincoln Park's Lincoln Hotel will also offer a Ferris Bueller-themed package this summer, which includes two tickets to a Cubs day game.

John and Nancy Hughes Theater - Ferris Fest will feature two screenings of the famous movie at the John and Nancy Hughes Theater in Lake Forest on Saturday, May 21 and Sunday, May 22. The screenings will be hosted by Chicago Sun-Times film critic Richard Roeper and will feature cast members from the movie.
