While it's always heartbreaking to see an architecturally significant or very old building meet the wrecking ball, the good news is that hundreds of buildings throughout Chicago have city-designated landmark protection. In addition to the official Chicago Landmarks, hundreds of other buildings are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). And with so many buildings having some form of historic designation, it can get difficult keeping track of them all. Fortunately, there's now an interactive map that pins each one of Chicago's city designated landmarks and buildings listed on the NRHP. Reddit user snowman304 utilized the city's official list of landmark buildings to create the map that also includes the building name, date built, and coordinates.
