A Look at Studio Gang's Now-Open 'City Hyde Park' Apartments

New, 13 comments

The 15-story, 180-unit complex opened late last year

With the first batch of tenants arriving late last year, the City Hyde Park apartments by Chicago’s Studio Gang Architects has been officially open for business for a few months now. The project is one of the those rare designs where the finished product manages to live up to — if not exceed — high expectations established early by great renderings. Photos of the completed building reveal not only the slick geometry of the angular patterned facade, but also a sharp-looking model unit with modern furnishings to match.

With virtually every unit offering a corner view and at least one balcony, monthly rents in the 15-story luxury tower start around $1,800 for a one bedroom and can exceed $4,600 for higher floor three-bedroom example. Developers have designated 36 of the building’s 180 apartments as affordable-rate for qualifying individuals. City Hyde Park’s 50,000 square feet of ground level retail is anchored by a new Whole Foods market.

Along with the new University of Chicago dormitory project, Studio Gang’s next Hyde Park project will be the recently-approved Solstice on the Park residential tower slated to rise just north of Jackson Park.
