Rents are climbing throughout the city's northwest side. Just this past weekend, protestors took to the streets of Logan Square to raise awareness of the issue, which is causing many to leave the neighborhood for areas that are more affordable. For those with big budgets, there is a seemingly endless supply of new downtown apartments to choose from. However, for those who are a bit tighter on the finances, finding an affordable apartment near transportation may be a bit more challenging. Fortunately, there are still some landlords out there offering housing at reasonable rates. Forget the granite countertops and smart thermostats, these apartments' biggest asset is their value.
Rent: $1,050/month
There aren't any photos of the interior here, but this one may be worth further investigation. According to the listing, this two-bedroom on the border of Avondale and Logan Square is available starting May 1.
Rent: $1,100/month
Here's a two-bedroom on the smaller side of the scale at just 700 square feet. However, for a young couple or room mates that don't have a ton of belongings, it should be manageable. It's located in Avondale but is only about a 10 minute walk to the Logan Square Blue Line station and new bars on Milwaukee Avenue. It's by no means a flashy apartment, but the price is hard to beat.
Rent: $1,200/month
The landlord calls this area Ukrainian Village. Let's not be coy here. This is Humboldt Park and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. It's nothing flashy, but it's got central heat and a really nice balcony space. This one is ready for tenants.
Rent: $1,200/month
Well, the photos aren't exactly phenomenal here, but what we can tell is that this is your standard rental-grade apartment at a reasonable price. It's a top floor apartment and the photos do show an apartment that gets a solid amount of natural light. The location is really great here as it's just a few steps away from Palmer Square. This one will be available May 1.
