The West Loop is hot. We all know this. And with the flood of new restaurants, hotels, and major commercial tenants comes more foot traffic and investment. But with all of the changes and speculation comes some frustration from residents. West Loop residents have pushed back on several proposals over the last couple of years — everything from new hotels to dense apartment developments. Developers don't appear to be too deterred however, as construction crews gear up for newer projects.
So, how much is a property near Randolph Street going for these days? Would you spend $1.5 million for a standard 25' lot in the area? That's what the owner of one commercial property on Aberdeen is asking. The space was most recently home to The Garage restaurant, which shut down earlier this year. According to our colleagues at Eater Chicago, the restaurant was supposed to close temporarily to make some changes. However, the restaurant has yet to return and instead, the property on Aberdeen has been listed as vacant land and is being marketed as an "amazing location" for a new commercial or residential development.
