Over the last several days, construction crews have reduced much of the decaying Western Avenue overpass into a giant pile of rebar and concrete rubble. The first phase, which consists of demolition and cleanup, will last five months. In total, the project focuses on a 1.25 mile stretch of Western that goes from Logan Boulevard to Waveland Avenue. For now, traffic along this stretch are reduced to a single lane each way. Expect to see construction crews on Western for the foreseeable future.
