The old yellow brick building on South Greenwood Avenue that was once the headquarters of the Nation of Islam has listed for $799,000. Known as Muhammad's Temple of Islam No. 2 during the 1960s, the building was mostly recently used by a child adoption agency. According to the listing, the 8,300-square-foot property is now zoned as residential and being sold as residential property. Because of its connection to civil rights leader and former Nation of Islam member Malcolm X, the building was on the FBI's radar during the '60s. A now unclassified file reveals how the FBI documented Malcolm X's work with the NOI and his subsequent splitting from the organization. If walls could speak, this one would certainly have an interesting story to tell. As it's being marketed as a residential property, there is a high likelihood that the building could one day become condos, apartment or perhaps even one large single family home.
