Demolition work finally began this week on the old Mega Mall indoor market in Logan Square. Some residents are feeling nostalgic as excavators take down the walls of the structure which stretches down Milwaukee Avenue from Sacramento Avenue to Logan Boulevard while others rejoice. Either way, the deed is being done. Photographer and urban explorer Nitram242, a Curbed Flickr pool contributor who has documented the demolition of numerous buildings over the years, recently popped by the Mega Mall to get a look inside. The scenes are eerie—revealing the signage and booths of former merchants while the ceiling is pushed in from demolition crews.
