Own the former home of the Hot Dog King of Chicago

The 2,600-square-foot home features a large tiki-themed indoor pool room

A spacious home in west suburban Addison with some history has hit the market. According to the listing agent, the home once belonged to Ira Helfer Dick Portillo, proprietor of the popular Portillo’s hot dog stands known throughout the Chicago region. The home is asking $549,900.

Update: While the listing agent suggested that the home belonged to the “Hot Dog King of Chicago,” the previous owner of this home was not Ira Helfer, a former Chicago turned hot dog slinger and golfer in Hawaii. This home previously belonged to Dick Portillo, the other Hot Dog King of Chicago.
